Edo Marchesi

Incoming Assistant Professor of Finance

Edo Marchesi is an incoming Assistant Professor of Finance at the Loyola University Chicago, Quinlan School of Business. His research examines the intersection of entrepreneurial finance and innovation, with a particular focus on how artificial intelligence is reshaping entrepreneurship, firm formation, and the financing of new ventures. His job market paper, When AI Meets Entrepreneurship: Evidence from the Commercialization of ChatGPT, received the 2026 Best Doctoral Student Paper in Financial Technology Award from the Southwestern Finance Association. He has extensive experience in the private markets sector: he is a collaborator of the Chicago Booth Entrepreneurship Research Lab and was a private markets researcher for the StepStone Group. He is currently completing his PhD in Finance at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Bocconi University in Italy.
